There are existents that are described as being self manifesting and that also manifest others, for instance “Light”, which is something self manifesting and also manifests other things; In the view of the Gnostics God is also such a being; a being that is existent in itself and extracts other existents from the darkness of non-being into the light of being, and thereafter sustains their existence; therefore they describe God as being Existent in Itself (Mawjud bi Nafsih) and the other contingent things that exist as being Existent through another (Mawjud bi Ghayrih). In theosophy God is held to be Pure Existence or Absolute Being and Existence is a self-evident reality that does not require any proof for its existence; although the fact that it is needless of any proof for its being does not mean that no proof of its being exists. Consider the example of the sun that exists but by virtue of the intensity of its self-evident reality cannot be perceived directly, as gazing directly into the sun without the use of any intermediary is blinding; the intensity of its light itself renders it impossible to be seen; such is said to be the case with God. The self-evident nature of God becomes more obvious upon meditating upon the Argument of the Veracious (Burhan us Siddiqin).
